A special book discussion invitation
Martin Indyk's new book on Henry Kissinger in the Middle East is astounding - about the region, but also about power, complexity and diplomacy overall.
The Washington Post’s David Ignatius - himself a brilliant writer and as deep a thinker on power globally as well as the history and current challenges of the Middle East as there is - and I are hosting a virtual book talk for our friend Martin Indyk. No one person has had more first hand experience navigating the treacherous waters of Middle East peace efforts as Martin - having led negotiations, and served or advised directly nearly every US President and Secretary of State since Bill Clinton.
He spent eight years researching this encyclopedic and beautifully written history, including multiple interviews with Kissinger himself and most of the living figures around the world who “were in the room where it happened.”
Fascinating, gripping, provocative his book made me rethink not only the history of the region, but how challenging it is to navigate power dynamics and sustainable results in great complexity. I will look at the world differently and be a more effective leader for it.
We are hosting this this week on December 2 — 11:00 AM EST - so hopefully convenient for many time zones. And will save plenty of time for your questions.
